Beach Tree Wedding Arch

Tropical DMC Wedding featured on Style Me Pretty

 Lorcan and Caroline married at the Grace Bay Estates last April.  Caroline had done a superb job establishing the overall style of their picture perfect affair.  They couple chose wisely and it shows;

 The most beautiful beach, world renowned Grace Bay.

Darling invitations and paper products.

A divine gown.

Special island touches.

A lush and serene location.

And, of course, the Tropical DMC team who weaved all their well laid plans together.  From the beautiful breezy arch,

to the sweet florals,

to flawless hair and make-up

to the precious peony crowned cake,

 

and a few good fleur-de-lys finishing touches

 for good measure.

What fun it was to style for such a pretty affair!

Handpainted Signage

I hit the ground running back in Turks and Caicos with a large corporate event planned by Tropical DMC for a fantastic repeat client.  This year this group went even bigger and better with four picture perfect evenings for their corporate client guests.  I custom made a few hand painted decor and signage items for the "Fast Eddie's Tiki Bar" night hled at a local venue in Blue Hills.  The beach sign above included the distance from Turks and Caicos to several of the guests home cities.  This is a great idea for weddings and events to bring a real Caribbean look to any given beach.

A couple of dark wood masks were hand painted to go along with the bright and tropical colored surroundings.

And finally an 8' x 5' large mural, custom designed with the group's own logo, was created as a photo back drop and focal point for the event.  

The following evening was hosted at The Estates, an incredibly chic and contemporary look was designed by Teresa Brunner using black, white, red, and damask decor and linens.  She contracted TC Millwork to make these shadowbox table numbers for this event.  These work very well for an outdoor function as they hold enough weight to resist wind and are large enough so guests can clearly read them even in dim ambiance lighting.

The corporate groups final night was certainly a soiree to behold; a superb job to all who made this  Gansevoort event such as smashing success.  To any who would doubt what an event team can accomplish on a small Caribbean island, feast your eyes on these beautiful images by Paradise Photography

Teresa utilized our collection of hand painted  fan corals for the table centerpieces, a nice touch for a beautifully executed ocean theme.  Amazing how much impact a fully draped tent has, transforming any decor from lovely to  gasp aloud stunning.

Huge thanks to Tropical Destination Management Co. for their continued loyal patronage, it is always a pleasure and honor to work with such a great company.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I had been corresponding with video director/editor Vassili Shields since November of last year, introduced to his work with his "Shed" music video for Ingrid Gerdes.  As the still photograph above indicates, the video was not only beautiful, it showed just how gorgeous Turks and Caicos is location wise for production purposes.   When he inquired whether I would be interested in styling for a video shoot for The Palazzo at the pretty and pristine Villa Renaissance, I jumped at the opportunity.  The video's romantic storyline was designed to highlight the unit's incredible wedding capabilities; 7 bedrooms to accomodate family or the wedding party and a gorgeous beachfront location.  Just in time for Valentine's Day:

Wed Day- JP and Michelle

  Today will mark the last Wed Day you will see here on pepper & pikey.  I will now be collaborating with Teresa Brunner of tropicaldmc on her very own blog (stay tuned for the web adress!)  which will profile all the many weddings and events she coordinates flawlessly (and many that I decorate and style for).  To go out with a bang, here is a lovely little wedding we did last year.

"Taken" was big theme within this wedding, an adorable reference to JP's genius grandfather who wore a necklace that read just that to ward off other women.  Smart man, grooms take note!  

 

These two had a very carefree, laid back vibe about them, which was a very good characteristic given their wedding day.  The tropicaldmc team finished setting bright white paper lanterns draped elegantly over the pool and such was the sight that we all had to stand back and admire how gorgeous they looked at this Long Bay location.  I remember wishing I had my camera to take a few shots as the sky was this brilliant shade of blue that framed the paper lanterns just perfectly with the turquoise pool in the foreground and the beach in the background.  Unfortunately there wasn't time.  We left in a hurry to pick up flowers and a few other supplies and received the call.. . . the call you never want to receive on a wedding day.  RAIN!  Lots of rain that came fast and furious and with virtually no warning!  We rushed back to the property to find all those lovely white paper lanterns soggy, torn, and flopping on the strand of lights.  It was a sight that nearly made us all weep.  There would not be time to hang more.  I quickly put the ladder in the pool and raced to get all the evidence out of sight before the guests arrived.  The family must have had a good laugh at me fully clothed in the pool, struggling with the ladder, cutting down what was left. 

I reluctantly went into the kitchen and was met with Michelle's saddened face peering out the window.  She was such a trooper, I saw not one tear fall!  It was a terrible shame that mischevious rain wiped out those poor paper lanterns, but these two could not be dampened by mother nature's curve ball.

They had done so much with all the little DIY details.

They put on their smiles and had the best time regardless!  Brides and grooms should all make that decision before the big day that, no matter what happens, enjoy it to the fullest and take every moment as a blessing.

JP and Michelle, not only are you a special couple, you were model clients that handled your day with such poise.  Thank you so much for your adaptability.  We know you two are able to weather any storm, big or small, and hope to see you back in the Turks and Caicos to celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary!

Wed Day-Somerset wedding

On Sunday May 22nd, tropicaldmc started early in the afternoon for this wedding on Grace Bay Beach.  Often we rarely see the bride or groom up until just before the ceremony.  As soon as we arrived, the bikini clad bride came up and said hello, full of sand and seawater!  She was having a blast with friends and family, taking full advantage of this precious quality time with loved ones.  When you hire a planner like Teresa Brunner, why not get out there and frolick and play on your wedding day!

This Montreal couple was all about vibrant and fun and it showed in their plush decor.  Bouganvillea, hydrangea, roses, and lilies adorned the ceremony site.

Fuscia chair tie backs coordinated perfectly with the florals.

The wedding party takes a moment just before the ceremony at The Somerset, a stately yet chic resort and destination wedding location.

The couple hosted their reception on the penthouse balcony, catered by Kissing Fish.



Here comes the bride!  Congratulations to these two life loving French Canadians!
